Sometimes You Don't Want to Know the Stats

As golf season approaches, it’s one of the pastimes I look forward to in addition to riding my motorcycle. There’s something about the fresh air, the challenge of the masting golf, and the camaraderie that makes it appealing to me.
This cartoon I drew after thinking about how stats plays a role in everything we do. It’s a lighthearted reminder that sometimes, despite our best efforts and meticulous planning, things don’t always go as expected.
But that’s the beauty of both golf and continuous improvement. Each missed putt is an opportunity to learn, adjust, and improve. Sort of a PDCA. Whether it’s refining your swing or optimizing a process, the principles of Six Sigma can be applied to all areas of life, including our favorite hobbies.
So, as we gear up for another season on the greens, let’s embrace the challenges, enjoy the game, and keep striving for continuous improvement—both on and off the course.
What are your experiences of applying stats to everyday activities you do? Add you comment, I’d enjoying hearing it.
